How much pizza per person for a corporate event? The rule we've used for years
Published: September 3, 2026
Where half a pizza comes from
A pizza from the oven is cut into 6-8 slices. A guest at a company event typically eats 3-4 slices, some fewer, some more. It averages out to half a pizza, and that comes from events we have actually served, not from theory. The largest was the European Lacrosse Championships in Wrocław in July 2025, over 800 people in a single day.
Half a pizza holds when:
- pizza is the main food at the event,
- the event runs 2-3 hours,
- guests are adults in a mixed group.
When to count differently
The rule is a starting point, not dogma. Three situations where we adjust:
Pizza as the only food at a long event. A company picnic from noon till evening, people coming back for a second round. We plan closer to three quarters of a pizza per person.
Pizza as one of several stations. There is a grill, a burger truck or a buffet next to us. A third of a pizza per guest is enough, because some people will never reach our stand.
Pizza workshops instead of catering. In a workshop every participant makes their own pizza, so we count one per person, in rounds of up to 20.
If you are not sure which way your event will go, say so in the enquiry form. We will advise based on similar events.
How long service takes
The second number worth knowing is throughput. One oven produces around 25 pizzas an hour. A standard crew travels with two ovens and makes 40-50 pizzas an hour.
Example for 200 people:
- 200 guests × half a pizza = 100 pizzas,
- 100 pizzas at 40-50 an hour = roughly 2-2.5 hours of continuous service with one crew.
If the event needs to be shorter, or everyone eats at the same moment (a conference break, for example), we add a second crew or another oven. We can run up to three crews in parallel, so scale is never a problem, only a pricing parameter.
How to work it out yourself
Three steps that are enough for a first budget:
- Number of guests × 0.5 = number of pizzas.
- Number of pizzas ÷ 45 = hours of service for one crew.
- If that comes to more than 3 hours, or guests eat within a single time window, you need a second crew.
With those three numbers you can talk to any caterer, not just us.
A few more things to keep in mind
Setting up the stand takes us 30 minutes. The dough ferments for 48 hours, which is why we take bookings with at least three days' notice. Vegetarian options are in every menu; other dietary needs go in the notes of your enquiry.

Common questions
How much pizza per person at a company event?
Half a pizza per guest when pizza is the main food at a 2-3 hour event. For a longer event with no other food we plan more; when pizza is one of several stations, less.
How many pizzas per hour?
Around 25 pizzas from one oven. A crew running two ovens produces 40-50 pizzas an hour.
How many people can one crew serve?
One crew with two ovens handles events of up to 200-300 people. For bigger events we send several crews, up to three at once.
What if guests eat more than we planned?
We bring dough with a margin, and the pizza count in the offer is a ceiling we agree together before the event. You are billed for the package, not per pizza.
